What an awesome weekend! The beautiful warm air and sunny skies continued into yesterday. After being cooped up last week recovering from surgery, I decided that we won’t get too many more days like this and it was far too nice to stay in. I charged up my camera batteries and filled up the truck with gas and off we went to see what we could find. Neither of us had ever been to the little town of St. Mary’s, so we made that our first stop.
What a pretty little town! Although beautiful now, I can only imagine how stunning it would be in the spring. We found the local park on the edge of the Thames river and decided to park the truck and go for a walk. There were still little pockets of trees with bright orange and yellow leaves and set against the bright blue skies and blue/green water, the colours just came alive.

The architecture in this little town is amazing. Some of the buildings look like castles and the stone work is beautiful. There was so many cute little shops…even a fantastic chocolate store…although very tempting, we were good and did not go in.
After spending much of the afternoon walking around this cute little town, we decided to start heading home. We made a stop in the picturesque town of Stratford for a much needed early dinner and then took a drive down by the famous Festival Theatre and the beautiful river across from it. Although it was only 5:15pm, because of the recent daylight savings time change this past weekend, the sun was already starting to set. The colours and reflections on the water were beyond stunning….so once again we parked the truck and went for a short walk to admire the views.
Days like these are some of my absolute favourite…no set plan or agenda, not a care in the world…just exploring at my own pace, grabbing a bite to eat and photographing whatever catches my eye. I live for days like this and can’t wait until I can do it again some day soon!
