It’s been 12 days since surgery and off to the vet again this morning to have his sutures removed. As you can see from the above photo…he was less than pleased to have gone back. But his displeasure didn’t stop him from gobbling up several biscuits before returning home. While speaking with the vet, everything looks good and his paw is healing well. There is no guarantee about whether the tumor will regrow in the future or not, but as far as today goes…he’s back to his normal crazy self and all is well. The vet said that when he removed the tumor, he feels he got a “clean margin” and that if he had of gone any deeper during the surgery, he would have been in around a lot of blood vessels. Although we didn’t send the tumor off to have pathology done, he appeared confident that he was able to get the entire tumor. Only time will tell what will happen in the future.
From here on out, as far as we’re concerned, he is back to normal. He has little to no discomfort and he is running and playing as if nothing had ever happened. We complain about how much caring for our elderly pets can be, but really, I don’t even want to think of the alternative…as long as I know that what I was doing was going to help them and improve their quality of life, I would do it again in a heartbeat!
